It extends out about 23 inches which is a nice distance compared to some. It can be adjusted 360 deg vertically and 270 deg horizontally which it does have a knob to tighten that once you have it set to where you want it. It folds up nicely to store it when you are not using it making it very compact. I was very skeptical about trying this because I have tried many products to try and get rid of these flying bugs that are coming from my bird food.
